What, when, where, why, how questions


When is my bill due?

Upon receipt. We invoice every 2 weeks (on Mondays) and payment is expected before the next billing cycle.

How can I pay?

  • Our enrollment system, CommunityPass, accepts payment online (MC, Visa, Discover). Please note that only payment in full can be made at the site. If you need to make a partial payment by credit card, please contact the office.
  • Checks can be mailed to PO Box 541, Brewster, MA 02631 OR handed to a site coordinator OR brought into the NYA office at Stony Brook. Cash can also be accepted by site coordinators or office personnel.
  • ***Please do not send payment in with your child.***
  • Credit card payments can also be made in person at the office or over the phone.
  • We do not store credit card numbers, but you can set up automatic payments in your CommunityPass account.

My child is absent from school. Do I have to notify NYA about this?

It’s always a good idea to leave a voicemail (508-896-7900) or send an email to the director and Peggy.
We do rely on the schools’ attendance lists and if your child is not in school, we will automatically mark him/her absent from NYA. 

My child is going home on the bus / being picked up after school/ is going to a friend’s house after school. Who do I notify?

Please send a note to the child’s teacher AND NOTIFY NYA by a separate note addressed to NYA, by phone, email or in person that they will not be attending. It is not the responsibility of school personnel to copy notes. We cannot accept text messages.

If we have not been notified properly, we will keep the child with us.
There are no credits issued for days a child is absent. 

My child is absent from school. Can I drop him/her off for after school anyway?

No, if a child is absent for whatever reason they may not attend after school or enrichments on that day.

Can I make last minute changes to my child’s schedule?

We understand schedules change because other activities, sports, lessons, parental obligations and the like call for rearranging after school schedules. We require ONE WEEK’S notice for removing a child on a contracted day or days. We can usually accommodate adding a child on a day he/she does not normally attend and this is billed as an extra day. We do not allow swapping days and there is no credit for days a child does not attend. All extra days are billed at the full day rate of $22 regardless of how long the child stays.

How do I add someone to my pick-up list?

All changes to persons allowed to pick up your child are to be made in your CommunityPass account.

Can my child/ren do enrichments if we are not members of NYA?

Yes! Many of our enrichments run two sessions and we give non-NYA members priority for the first sessions beginning right after school. NYA members whose children attend on a day of the enrichment receive a discount.

How do I know if my child has been enrolled in an enrichment?

Enrollments for enrichments are made through CommunityPass. You will receive confirmation notices or be notified if your child is on a wait list.

Where can I find out about upcoming enrichments?

Flyers are available via backpacks, at sign-out tables and are posted on our website under Programs / Enrichments. Registration will go through the CommunityPass system.

How do I sign up for a fundraiser?

You were asked at registration which of our three major fundraisers you want to help out with, so rest assured we will contact you! Please feel free to call if you need to change your commitment.

What’s for snack?

We post our snacks on the daily whiteboard and also (try to) plan in advance and include this on the monthly calendars.

What monthly calendars? Where can I find them?

Site Coordinators create and (mostly) follow planned activities, specials, and snacks each month. These are emailed to parents and posted at the sign-out tables.
