Board President

Melissa Oomer

 Melissa Oomer is a consultant and coach to the nonprofit and social service sector. She has over 15 years of experience advising foundations, corporations, nonprofits, and collaboratives on an array of issues.
Melissa has been involved in addressing many community health issues in Massachusetts, such as early childhood education and care, behavioral health, healthy aging, and economic empowerment.
Melissa grew up in Plymouth and spent much of her adult life living in South Boston with her husband Imran. She also lived and worked in Barcelona, Spain, and Mumbai, India. Melissa's family eventually moved into Brewster in 2020. Her daughter attends Stony Brook, while her son recently attended Eddy. Melissa and her family enjoy Brewster's bayside beaches year-round and biking on the rail trail throughout the summer.

Vice Chair

Katie Glasheen

As a member of the Nauset Youth Alliance Board, Katie Glasheen is passionate about giving back to an organization that plays a vital role in the lives of Brewster families. This is her first year on the board, and she looks forward to supporting this wonderful organization. Katie is a dedicated school counselor with 14 years of experience supporting high school students in their academic and personal growth. She holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Endicott College and a master's degree in Education from UMass Boston. She and her husband are proud parents of two sons—one currently attending Stony Brook and another soon to join. In her free time, Katie enjoys baking, reading, spending time at the beach, and being with her family.

Board Member

Kelsey Ellis

Born and raised on Cape Cod, Kelsey Ellis graduated from Nauset High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Boston University's School of Communication. Kelsey began her career in the nonprofit field in NYC before moving back home to Brewster a decade ago.
Kelsey is currently the Director of Development at Barnstable Land Trust. She works to preserve open spaces on Cape Cod while connecting the community on and with the land. Kelsey has been recognized as a Cape & Plymouth Business 40 Under 40 awardee. She also volunteers with Love Live Local and Philanthropy Partners of the Cape and Islands, all while serving on the board for Nauset Youth Alliance.
You can find Kelsey with her husband and two kids at the beach, on the baseball field, wandering the trails of Cape Cod, exploring new restaurants, or getting ice cream (a family favorite). Kelsey is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of NYA, as the organization is such a positive and necessary resource for local families.

Board Treasurer 

Svetlana Gemborys

Svetlana grew up in Bulgaria and moved to Cape Cod in 2010 after completing her Bachelor's degree in Finance.
She has been in the finance industry since 2012 and currently holds the position of Assistant Banking Center Manager at the Cape Cod Five Bank in Wellfleet.
Her family also runs a small backyard hobby farm known as Belmont Farm and Gardens. In her spare time, you can find her in the garden, baking artisan bread, attending community events, or having fun with the family.
As a mother of two school-aged girls, she is honored to serve on the board. Serving as NYA's treasurer is another way of expressing gratitude to the staff and board members collectively.

Board Member

Devin McGuire

Devin spent the majority of her youth on the Cape vacationing during summers until her family decided to relocate to Truro. She went on to study Communication at Lake Forest College in Chicago before returning to Cape Cod in 2016 and settling in Brewster. Before her return, Devin worked in leadership at an environmental nonprofit in Boston, where she now continues to serve on their board.
She is currently the COO at Nauset Rental, a local vacation rental management company.  Devin has served on many local committees and enjoys coaching any rec sports she can convince her son to join. In her free time, she and her family love enjoying what Brewster and the surrounding areas have to offer, especially exploring new trails and getting a swim in whenever they can.
Devin is grateful for the opportunity to support NYA and its important work on behalf of families in the community.

Product Manager

Christine Bates

Christine is happy to be in her first year on the NYA board. She has a passion for ornithology and has taught a variety of educational programs and field courses on the subject.

As a native Cape Codder, Christine was born and raised in Orleans and has been calling Brewster her home for the past 13 years. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Ithaca College and a Master's degree from Green Mountain College, both in Environmental Studies.

Christine is currently with the Brewster Recreation Department and has previously worked as an Education Coordinator for Mass Audubon and as an Interpretive Park Ranger for the National Park Service. She's also a den leader and committee member with Brewster Cub Scouts, has served on the board of the Cape Cod Bird Club, and served as a member of the Stony Brook Elementary School Council.
Christine is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys bird watching, hiking, kayaking, camping, and biking with her husband (Dave) and sons (Andrew and Owen). She also enjoys music and playing the piano and trombone.

Board Member

Anna Ramsey

Anna Ramsay was born and raised on Cape Cod, growing up on her family's Cape Cod Lavender Farm in Harwich. At an early age, Anna gained a great appreciation for nature, animals, education, and hard work. Today, Anna lives in Brewster with her husband Kris and their two children.

Professionally, Anna earned her Undergraduate Degree in Environmental Science at Colby-Sawyer College and her master's degree in Elementary Education at Lesley University. Anna has been a second grade teacher at the Dennis-Yarmouth Elementary School for more than 12 years. She also sits on the Board of NYA and the Brewster Heights Association.
In her free time, Anna enjoys spending quality time with her family, embarking on exciting adventures, staying active, cooking delicious meals, taking care of their beloved animals, gardening, and relaxing at the beach.

Sofiya Bailey

This is Sofiya Bailey's second year serving on the
NYA Board. She is an Air Force Veteran, a local Realtor with William Raveis, and a local Retail Business owner.
She resides in Brewster with her husband and two daughters, in grades 3 and 9.
Outside of work, she loves swimming, reading, great food, and traveling the world.
